Vialex has provided real estate legal services assistance to R&B Distillers in the purchase of Dhurrie Farm at Machrihanish on the Kintyre peninsula.  The farm forms part of plans for building the first new distillery in Campbeltown in over 140 years and will supply barley to both the company’s existing Isle of Raasay Distillery and the planned Machrihanish Distillery. R&B intends to reduce environmental impact through the use of  a “net zero” distillation process.

It is hoped planning on the distillery will be finalised this year and building begin in 2023.

Bill Dobbie, co-founder R&B Distillers

Bill Dobbie, co-founder of R&B Distillers and whose family were originally from the Campbeltown area, commented: “When R&B Distillers was founded in 2015 we had a clear ambition to create Scotland’s leading artisanal distiller – building on Raasay’s nascent success, and, noticing the clear global demand for supreme quality drinks with unquestionable provenance, this announcement confirms significant progress towards this goal.”

Katie Corrigan, Vialex Head of Real Estate led the team on the Dhurrie Farm purchase, and was assisted by Paralegal Coral Wesley.   Katie commented: “It has been a pleasure to work on this project and play our small part in R&B’s plans for the local community and their new Machrihanish single malt.”

The R&B announcement which also details plans for a micro grain distillery in Coldstream and a new-look executive team, was covered in press including, The Times, The Scotsman and Daily Business.
