As a real estate lawyer, I deal with a wide range of commercial property matters from acquisitions and disposals, leasing and telecommunications work to corporate support, retail, property management and secured lending. I’m also dual-qualified in Scots and English law so able to deal with transactions north and south of the border.
At the outset of any matter, I always try to place myself in my clients’ shoes and find that by listening and taking the time to understand the direction of the business and what they are trying to achieve, it means I can be one step ahead during the course of the transaction. As a particularly creative person, I’m usually able to see innovative solutions to issues that pop up along the way and like to ensure that my advice is practical, pragmatic and delivered in a friendly down-to-earth way.
I really enjoy working with my corporate colleagues providing them with real estate support in the context of corporate transactions and the buzz and excitement in the lead up to completion, but the best part of my job is definitely saying to clients “We’ve completed! Go pick up the keys to your new office!”
